It's about time I had a couple days off to sit down and draw.
And what I mean is draw what I have wanted to draw for the past four months now.
Well, this happens every time I am on winter break. I tend to keep in all original art/drawing/design ideas in my head for the whole four-month semester until the winter break, when I will try to poop out as many of those ideas as I can for two weeks. Yes, I can complain by saying that every other college student gets four weeks off during the break instead, but I won't... because I think I already have in my previous winter break journal entry. -first world problems-
However, this break has been a little more difficult for me since I had to attend so many family holiday parties and non-holiday events.
Of course one should expect the few days during Christmas and New Years to be packed with events, but I think this year's Christmas week was much more eventful than last year's. For one, I had to attend a family friend's Eve of Christmas Eve party. Uh-huh, I called it an Eve-of-Christmas-Eve party because that's exactly what it was, a Christmas party before Christmas Eve. I know Christmas is supposed to be a jolly occasion, but I thought
that was a tad
too early. I don't know, I found out I'm mostly an introverted person, so any social gathering, no matter how fun it is, tends to drain my energy instead of replenish it.
Then the day after, my family held their own
official Christmas
Eve party at the house. That party was also jolly good, but once again, it drained my energy.
Then the day after that, we had to travel south to attend yet another family Christmas-related party. This one was a pretty cute, as my cousins invented their own Christmas games for everyone to participate in and win prizes, but I have to admit, I was close to falling asleep in one of their couches while I was watching little kids balance Christmas ornaments on a yardstick supported by a thin, cardboard pole.
And lastly, the days that followed those Christmas events were filled with eye doctor visits, more family visits, get-togethers with old friends, and the New Years celebrations.
So it wasn't until a couple days ago that I finally had some time to stay at home and
draaaaaw. However, thinking about it now... I, again, should not complain. Not because I've already complained about such events before, but because I think I will never be able to do such things until the next major break again. Sure, I'd like to have all the time in the world to sit down and draw whatever I want forever and ever, but of course that will never happen as all people have priorities. And I got to eat good food, laugh, and hang out with others.
Aww... but going to so many events that provide so much food will only make me
faaat. (okay I gotta stop with these first world problems)
Since major holidays are finally over this week, the best I could do now is try to use my leftover vacation time for my remaining art-related activites. So far, I managed to complete two:
The first one is the final comic strip to Ocelot's Troubles,
Ocelot's Troubles: Part 3The second one is an OC adoptable,
Princess PuddlesEDIT:For those who are interested in an OC adoptable, Puddles is now open for adoption instead of an auction. Please visit the link for more details.Hopefully I could do more, as I originally wanted to finish another OC adoptable and other personal artwork. Usually I don't fulfill all my plans on my breaks, but until the next breaks I guess. I can only do so much for myself. That's just the way it is.
